Today 11th March 2017, Youths of Oyo town, Oyo State Occupy IBDEC Oyo District Office at Fola-Tyre in a peaceful protest, demanding for explanations on the lack of power supply in the town for quite some times now. The protest started around 9am, when the youths merged at the popular Owode roundabout of the town and marched to the district office of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company with placards stating their different grievances and questions to the IBDEC.
However, there were no IBDEC official to address the youths, who were well coordinated in a peaceful manner, dropped their placards at the entrance of the district office, promising to come back if their questions are not answered within the next 48hours.
As at the time of filling this report, all effort to speak with any official of IBDEC proved abortive. Residents around the office claimed the officials ran away from the office as soon as they heard to songs and chanting of the protesting youths.
